Apple Vision Pro torture test is hard to watch but pretty informative

The Internet is a wonderful place, and of course, it was only a matter of time before someone started abusing the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro “for testing purposes.” If you have a weak stomach for tech gore, you probably shouldn’t watch the video.

All kidding aside, while by no means scientific, the video provides some really valuable insight into the general durability of headsets. First, the good news is that you probably don’t have anything to worry about in general usage. The Vision Pro tanked small dents and scrapes like a champ. Apart from some scratches on the front glass, the device was generally fine and fully functional.

Still, you should be careful with drops and, surprisingly, not because of the huge curved front glass. Like we said, it’s been good. However, a few drops on one of the Vision Pro’s speakers caused a catastrophic failure. Obviously the speaker and headband area around the user’s ears is a weak point. There appears to be a delicate hinge hidden inside the area, which has caused some damage to the video and is even starting to come out through the cover material.

However, the biggest thing to be aware of is that the light seal does not attach to the headset in any secure way. It seems to be held only by magnets. This means that you obviously won’t be holding the Vision Pro with the Light Shield, and no matter how convenient it may seem. It will disintegrate and the expensive gadget will fly towards the ground.

However, we encourage you to watch the video till the end as it contains some interesting revelations about the front glass of the device. We won’t spoil it, but you can call it “optional”.
